The Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT) was established in 2002 under the aegis of Federal Bank Officers’ Association Educational Society, an initiative of Federal Bank Officers’ Association. It is situated in Hormis Nagar at Mookkannoor, the birth place of Late K.P Hormis, Founder of Federal Bank. The campus is within a radius of 4 km from NH 47 and 6 km from Angamaly. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. This ISO 9001:2008 certified institution offers B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and MCA programmes with a total intake of 618 students. The college has developed excellent infrastructure facilities in the form of fully equipped laboratories, well stocked and computerized library with modern accessing system, hostels, conveyance, store, canteen and facilities for indoor and outdoor games. Language lab, Internet cafe, full fledged bank branch, ATM and Fitness centre are some of the additional facilities provided for the students. To nurture research and development, the college has established research centres like Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC), Instrumentation Research and Consultancy Centre (IRACC) and Centre for Research and Innovations in Signal Processing (CRISP).The campus wide network facilitates parents, teachers, students and the campus administration to interact with various departments, library and management functions of the college.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the year 2002.Annual intake of students including both PG & UG course is 138. The department has competent and committed faculty which encourages students’ involvement in various co-curricular activities along with their academics. The department also takes initiative for the conduct of various inter/intra collegiate competitions to improve the skills of the students. The students are also provided finest opportunities to join various professional societies like IEEE, CSI, FSF etc. The department has organized programmes like ICE-FOSS’10 in association with FISAT Free Software cell, National Seminar on “Advanced Networking Technologies & Security Issues”, and 1st International Conference on Advanced Computing & Communication Technologies.

 

 

The Center for High Performance Computing assures significant contributions as per the changing needs of researchers and industrialists. The system offers value added services in the field of variety and large data processing like Bioinformatics, Oceanography, Nanotechnology, image rendering etc, which demands powerful and complex computation. The High Performance Cluster Computing System,'Dakshnina Cluster Series-II', is the software upgradation of Dakshina -I with better speed performance and better resource management in the hardware system. It utilizes heterogeneous operating systems of customized Debian 5 of Linux with BSB as firewall system. It has recorded 9600 crores floating operations in a sec during HPL bench marking.
